I am getting red highlights in my hair for the first day of school. and i am excited, but before i do it i want ur opinion, should i get my hair hilighted red. by the way i am african american, and so think about that inur answer. if u dont like red please tell me nicely and think of another you think would be cute in my hair. thanks alot.

Hmm...its hard to say if red would be right for you because I do not know how dark of a complexion you would have - like streeks that were brownish red would look good on your hair if you had a deep mocha complexion such as hers:

* The red is really fun and playful and is a good look to have if you want to look unique and funky. However, if you are on the more natural and sophisticated side of beauty, try caramel highlights. ESPECIALLY if you have a lighter, bronzey complexion, such as Christina Millians :

*The golden hues really brings warmth and a healthy beachy sunkissed glow to the whole look. Red Highlights I find would be a bit tacky and unpolished for a look like this.

***Or if you want, just dye your hair black with no highlights. I find that raven black hair is absolutely stunning on darker complexions:

**Whichever you choose, it is based on what your prefered style. I personally love the sunkissed caramel highlights much over the red highlights, just because it looks beautiful against darker skin and is sooo much more natural - red highlights however are a lot more bolder and require attitude to pull it off. If you think you are confident enough to do so, try it out, but my bet and many other peoples bet I find are instead, golden highlights.
